Leonard Bernstein’s Candide

Today on ABC, I saw a sensational theater performance by Leonard Bernstein and a few famous other..it was spectacular that I barely moved from my seat and was glued to the couch. So here you go a synopsis of what Cancide is about…
Broadway and operetta unite in the New York Philharmonics performance of
the satirical, effervescent musical Candide by Leonard Bernstein - the
conduct
or and composer who was so intimately associated with the New York
Philharmonic. Equally drawn from the classical and musical theater worlds, the
cast includes Broadway’s Kristin Chenoweth as Cunegonde, Patti LuPone in a star
turn as The Old Lady, Paul Groves as Candide, Sir Thomas Allen as
Pangloss/Martin, Jeff Blumenkrantz as Maximilian and Janine LaManna as
Paquette.
Leonard Bernstein’s Candide is staged by Broadway actor-director
Lonny Price, whose recent work includes the San Francisco Symphony’s Emmy
Award-winning production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd in 2000. Leonard
Bernstein’s Candide features Bernstein protégé Marin Alsop conducting the
New York Philharmonic, with the participation of The Westminster Symphonic
Choir.
A must watch for theater enthusiast…
